TownDock Turns Ten
We do a site about a small town in eastern NC on the US east coast. The site turns 10 today, and we have to thank Textpattern. We have used Textpattern as the CMS for the last 5 years (before that no CMS, just Dreamweaver).
We’re fortunate to have great traffic for a small town site (we have a lot of readers in a several hundred mile radius that like to visit our town). Visitors daily over 3,500 (over 4,000 lately), over 20,000 pageviews every day. Over a half million hits every day. We get some weather every now and then – for example Hurricane Irene hit us directly last year. During weather events we can get 50,000 visitors a day, and 250,000 pageviews. Textpattern has hung in there during the traffic spikes.
Most of our “news” is about boats, and even dogs. Somehow it works. It didn’t start out as a business, but now, however modest, it is one. We have a fortunate life.
While there is perl and php code in the background for weather and advertising, Textpattern is the core CMS that holds it all together. Thank you Textpattern.

Re: TownDock Turns Ten
towndock, you had three identical topics and I deleted the wrong ones, sorry!
In bad weather I never leave home without wet_plugout, smd_where_used and adi_form_links

No problem – I managed to repost it.

Keith, I’d love to come visit Oriental some day. I’m in Carrboro/Durham.

Keith, I really love the TownDock website. I was trying to put my finger on exactly why. I think it’s because every bit of content, even the advertising, feels like it was thought through in earnest. The whole site feels well-cared for. Thanks for sharing the news.

Anton, we are about a 3 hour drive from you. Come on down some time and if you care to, do say hi. Oriental is a great place to sail, paddle, fish, walk – or just ponder the planet. A North Carolina Textpattern meeting could brew at a local coffee joint.
Marc, thank you for your kind words. They are much appreciated.
