Re: Feedback to: Textpattern 4.5.0 Beta released
Great news, huge thanks to the devs and all contributors! Smooth upgrade and no glitch as far. Great work on the admin side, digging through “History” to find out more.
(but please consider this remark concerning the new admin_criteria
callback)

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern 4.5.0 Beta released
Very nice friendly new installation has improved on what was already very easy to use. Great work in general!
There is still a problem with Search. Setting match="all"
should, according to the docs, requires all of the search terms in the article to exist in any order for the article to be included in the results. This does not work at all. If my title (never mind the article) is called “2012 Olympics Track and Field” and I search for 2012 Olympics
, that’s OK, it finds it. But a search for Olympics 2012
or 2012 Track
or 2012 track and field
and other combinations which do not contain only words in consecutive order, do not work.
Unfortunately, match="any"
is restricted to one word if you want to find anything. Then of course you get hundreds of result, so match="all"
is essential for search to be useful and not misleading. It seems like only match="exact"
is being used no matter which match setting you set.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern 4.5.0 Beta released
Two small points that perhaps this release is not ready for. Here I got the impression there was going to be a help link next to the Forms
title. That hasn’t arrived. Perhaps because a suitable alternative term for form has not yet been agreed upon?
Also in the Presentation section, I much prefer the Style and Sections layout to the other two. If the left sidebar in Pages and Forms panels was moved alongside the right sidebar, I think it would be more consistent as well as look better. IMHO, of course.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern 4.5.0 Beta released
Great stuff. Thanks guys. The installation screens are very stylish.
One slight criticism though … I’m not keen on the new message pane. To my mind, it doesn’t stand out enough – partly due to the new position (at the bottom of the window) and partly due to the pale colours. I feel it needs to be more “in your face”.
I’d prefer it at the top of the window where my gaze generally sits, but if the position is a done deal then could the colouring be stronger?
For example, I did a simple test, changing the text colour to white & the background to solid green/orange/red (for success, warning, error) and one’s attention is instantly drawn to it.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern 4.5.0 Beta released
I updated an existing vanilla installation to 4.5beta and almost everything seems really good so far.
On the Hive theme “Content/Write” page the icons view-html.png, view-text.png and view-preview.png icons do not appear in the Edit, View HTML and Preview buttons. The files seem to be present and correct in the Hive img folder. The icons are present in Classic and Remora.
In the clear light of the morning, I don’t see any Hive theme background images at all but they all seem to be physically present.

Update languages. They should be present.

This new version brings a lot of hesitation: we can’t choose between the “Remora” and “Hive” theme. Two beautiful layouts revamped for the event.
I love the use of Ajax into some pages. Many Thanks.

Ooops, I forgot to add that bit. Just slipped under the rug. I’ll put it in place.

OK, done in r4036. Will be in the nightly this evening but here’s a preview of the help topic so you can offer wording improvements.
EDIT: I assume you’ll ask for one on the Pages and Styles panels now, for completeness, right? ;-)
