Multiple sites - tweak

Hello,
I need to push on the server a structure thus made:

mysite/index  (some big buttons, leading to
    mysite/site_1/
    mysite/site_2/
    mysite/site_n/

All the sites are independent, they have similar layout but different content

I thought to using the sites facility, but the article on txp tips is a bit confusing to me. Is that anyway the right way to go? Any suggestion?
