Customize the date pattern?

Right now I’m using this to generate the date <txp:posted />

However, I want it to include the year published, and this tag doesn’t display the year. Anyone know how to make the year show up on the date tag?

See posted and particularly the format attribute. I.e. format="I was born in %Y".
