Self Registration & Admin Moderation

I’ve been looking through the self register & front end auth plugins today and can’t find a solution for moderating registrations.

I’ll explain the scenario. I have a client who wants to give some business associates access to a page of file downloads (quotes) and also to a page of product info listings. Some of this information is delicate and he doesn’t want his competitors to view it. All of this I can do already with the many plugins available… but how would you suggest I moderate registrations?

Simplest way I can think of is to set the mem_self_register default priv level to 0, and edit the success_form so it says “once your login is approved.. blah blah”.

A moderator can manually look at the Admin->Users tab to find any logins with priv 0 and alter them accordingly to a real level. Any attempts to log into the admin side (or front side if you wish) with privs=0 can be met with a big fat finger.

Thanks Bloke – that sounds like exactly what I am looking for, big fat finger and all :)

I never knew that about priv=0 :)

I’ll let you know how I go :)
