Memcached

Memcached is an open source caching system. It is described as follows:

It is one of the most popular caching tools and is used in such popular sites as YouTube, Reddit, Zynga, Facebook, and Twitter. If you also run dynamic, database-driven sites, Memcached may reduce resource consumption and speed up page delivery on your server as well.

Well, dang. I do have dynamic, database-driven sites. And one in particular that we’re fortunate to have high traffic / server load issues with.

Anybody have any experience with Mechcached and Textpattern? I understand a PHP app needs to me modified to make use of the benefits of Mechached. Some CMS have plugins for Memcached, but I haven’t come across one for my fave CMS.

FYI, Memcached is at memcached.org
