Why don’t use a tab (under “content”) to menage a set of custom fields that are independent from articles?

A way to store telephone numbers or other information that can be modified by client for example.

If implemented at core level, I’d like to see this as a new type of Forms (misc, article, etc… snippet). Then, those forms with “snippet” type would be listed/editable at “Contents -> Snippets”.

But there is a possibility to insert a new type of Forms as you suggest, directly from a plugin?
