Missing images on some pages of my website
My website (http://www.biblecartoons.co.uk) is suffereing & I need some help!
I’m using Textpattern version: 4.0.8 (r3085)
I have many images (cartoons) on my webiste. Most of them are displayed correctly on pages as thumbnails or full scale images. But several do not show up at all & a red text message “Could not save” is in their place.
I save images via Textpattern’s Content/Images tab.
Textpattern’s Diagnostics tab reveals this error massage – “Some Textpattern files have been modified:” & refers to the “publish.php” file.
Could this be the source of some of my images not showing up on the page?
This problem only began when my hosting company did some maintenace on the server that Textpattern is hosted on. I saved articles & image files whilst they were doing the work, as I wasn’t aware of their activities. I’ve sent some emails to them but they haven’t been able to resolve this issue for me.
If you need any more information about my particular textpattern installation, please let me know. I am not very knowledgable about the program or how these things work – please bear with me, I am willing to learn!

Re: Missing images on some pages of my website
Hello,
TBH, I am also a newbie in Textpattern, but as I understood, the problem is with the images you uploaded while the maintenance work was in progress, is that correct?
OR
Is it the problem with any random image which was working before the maintenance?
Have you tried to re-upload the images which are suffering from the issue?
Also I guess, checking the directory permissions for your website’s directories like images, textpattern, tmp etc, might help. If (because of maintenance that took place on server) some permissions such as writing or reading files have changed, then that might have been causing the problem.
Still I’m not really sure about the above explanation as if permissions were the issue, it could have affected all your images.
kindly check again with your hosting provider to see if you have correct hosting environment(directory permissions, htaccess, etc).
I hope this will help someway.

That’s one of the images m.young is talking about:
And a URL with one of these images:

Re: Missing images on some pages of my website
The image is there, it’s a problem with the images.php script your using which isn’t provided by out of the box Textpattern.
My guess is it uses some cache directory to create the thumbnail and it’s either missing or permissions aren’t set correctly.

Re: Missing images on some pages of my website
What foxes me is why some of the thumnails are shown on a page, whilst some are not. If it was a simple plugin error, or code error, why would some of the cartoons show on the page, & some not? Very odd.
I can try installing a newer version of Textpattern, but I didn’t install my first version… so I must admit I’m a bit scared in case the whole website crashes! I know, what a wimp… nothing ventured nothing gain, eh?!

Hi Dragondz,
here’s a link to one of the (many!) pages that have thumbnails showing.
http://www.biblecartoons.co.uk/cartoons/Exodus
You’ll see that some thumbnail images show on the page, some don’t (with a red cross), but the permalink still works – go figure!
Whilst my latest designs have the “Could not save” error message. But even that message acts as a permalink 7 takes you to the right page – what is going on!

Re: Missing images on some pages of my website
I just removed & re-installed a plug-in I use to re-size cartoon images (lam_dynamic_image) & now all the cartoon images are showing up on the page. Hurray!
Thanks to everyone for your advice, patience & understanding. Thanks Matt D & Dragondz for putting me on to the plug-in idea… well done!

If you want to try a different resizing script, I’ve provided an example (example 3) that shows how to use the TimThumb script with TXP tags.
