Permanent link mode
Trying to get a wordpress site to produce vanity URLs. The sites navigation consists of sections for top levels and categories as sub levels.
I want the URLs to be http://www.mysite.com/section/category/ yet this is not an option in admin preferences. Is there a way round this?

Re: Permanent link mode
You can do that with a plugin: gbp_permanent_links.

Uh, do you mean WordPress or Textpattern? If WordPress then this page will probably help you

I’m sure it does. It can be difficult though to figure out how to use it, because of the lack of documentation. Just post in the plugin thread and someone will help you.

Re: Permanent link mode
I’ve not been able to get Permanent link mode to work. mod_rewrite module is loaded and I’ve tested it with separate html documents but it won’t work with pages within the textpattern system.
I’ve been editing the htaccess by hand and I can’t get it to work. Spent all day on this and things are getting desperate

Re: Permanent link mode
Finally managed to get it working with this great plugin zem_rewrite. That took too long to be honest, nearly 2 days phew
