hooking ifttt.com up with textpattern

anyone using ifttt ? it’s really neat! but i’d love to see textpattern on the list of services somehow. i know this is difficult because not everyone’s site operates like a tumblr profile. but i’d love to know of any workarounds.

I’ve not looked closely at it but I’d think you could use the feed channel.

Re: hooking ifttt.com up with textpattern

it’s good you brought this up. Feed only works as a “trigger”, but not an “action”.

if it had an action to write to feed, then that would be a step in the direction towards using smd_xml.

Re: hooking ifttt.com up with textpattern

here is one application of ifttt with textpattern that i can think of:

  • use textpattern to make a very active RSS feed (say even reposting items from the archive in a loop)
  • then use ifttt to add those items to Buffer App

why is this useful? because you can’t add a rss feed to buffer app on your own without exploring the API
