Move section edit page from presentation to content

This is proposal #2 for the TXP5 admin-side structure project

In TXP4 the section page falls within the presentation group, but since it controls content should it really be part of the content group instead?

Any feedback for and against (or suggestions for a different method) welcome.

Re: Move section edit page from presentation to content

I think this proposal neglects one core purpose of sections: Sections control the presentation of content (model) by establishing a view (page) for a controller (section).

Fair enough – I personally have no preference either way (and am quite happy with the way it is currently) but this subject has come up a few times in the forums so I want to hear any good arguments for or against.

Yep. I’ve lost track how many times since 2004. It’s one of those things that has no real big need (no strong argument either way), thus why bother.

I’d much rather see “Style” changed to “Styles”. (But the thing there is nobody uses the styles in Txp anymore, so it’s really just cosmetic…though I’d still say important for out-of-box ).

Re: Move section edit page from presentation to content

OK, for the moment I’m leaving the sections page in presentation group unless I see compelling reasons to move it to content.

PS. I’ve also changed “Style” to “Styles” in the framework as suggested.

Phil, late to the party, but your theme is really, really good. I have some suggestions…

  1. Status should be a select to save space.
  2. list pages should have nav and bulk manage items at the top of the page.

I’m really liking what you have done.

I’m using them and I find it very convenient as I can work from anywhere with a net connection. What I learned to love about txp is how you can do everything through the browser. In fact the only thing bothering me for now is the htaccess file which is only editable via ftp.

Good ideas, I’ve incorporated them into the theme now. All list pages have bulk management options at the top and bottom of lists, and write page article status is now a select drop down (within the sort and display section).

I’m back on this project now after a month of doing other stuff, so should progress a bit quicker from here on.
