Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Hi,

I am struggling after a site redesign and update I seem to have lost some functionality.

I have some articles I want displayed as extract on the Homepage, but at the moment they are shown in all 3 languages.

Tried a reinstall and upgraded to 4.3.0.12, Textpattern version: 4.4.1 (r3575)

Any suggestions where I am going wrong?

Right, in the meantime I found out it’s only some articles that have thsi problem, others are fine. In addition to this new articles are no longer shown in the MLP tab. I uninstalled and re-installed but without removing language articles. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Usually when articles are displayed on the site, but can’t be found in the back-end (yes, I’ve seen that before), I check the relevant database tables and try to correct things directly in the database. It’s happening now and then on a site I made for a friend, and we still haven’t found out what causes it (it can happen when you delete an article from the renditions tab instead of from the MLP tab). Most of the time I can find the offending articles in the database in the wrong language table, or in the right table but with the wrong language assigned to it. You can use phpMyAdmin to browse the tables, each article should be in two tables:
  • the textpattern table, and
  • the l10_txp_(language_code) table (so an English article is in l10n_txp_en_gb)

and in both tables the column l10n_lang should have the same (in this example en-gb) value. The column l10n_group should also be the same for an article and its renditions.
In the l10n_articles table the articles are linked to their renditions; it looks like this:

ID	names		members
1 	Article title 	a:4:{s:5:"en-gb";i:1;s:5:"es-es";i:2;s:5:"nl-nl";i:3;s:5:"sp-rs";i:4;}

ID is the value that l10n_group in the other tables should have. You can check that table too. I know it’s not a fun job to do this manually (haven’t found an automated way to do it, I usually need to write things down while checking the tables), but you can sort the language table by l10n_lang, and thus see quickly if there are any incorrect languages there. Or look for the article titles that are incorrectly displayed on the site.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Els, as predicted, no l10n_lang in textpattern for these new articles. How do I fix this? I know in the short term i just add it in MySQL, but longterm?

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Did you replace Txp’s txplib_db.php with the one in the MLP install?

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Els, you are right, now the new articles work fine, so I just copied the ‘offending’ ones into newly created ones and the site is fine.

THANKS

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Hi,
when I submit a form with some errors Textpattern displays me the list of errors. But if I submit again the same form looks like this:

<form id="txpCommentInputForm" method="post" action="/favicon.ico#cpreview">
</form>

Why Textpattern search for favicon.ico?

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Hi Eduardo, I’ve been thinking about this since you posted it elsewhere on the forum, because I vaguely remembered it being mentioned before. Now I found it, and it turns out it was actually me who had the problem ;)
Try moving the favicon.ico out of the root directory (for instance to /images/). See my post here and the next one :)

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Do you have a link to the site? I promise I won’t really send a message, I just like to see what happens.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

hello everyone,

i have build a website with two languages german (de-de) and english (en-gb). every time i clone and save articles for each language the following message appears underneath:

Warning: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘’ at line 1 select * from l10n_articles where `ID`= in /homepages/28/d126913799/htdocs/textpattern/lib/txplib_db.php on line 113

what happens now, is that only the english articles disappear. the only really unhandy solution i have found so far is to delete and re-enter the languages in the mlp preferences every time i create articles. after doing so the english articles re-appear.

does someone know how i can get rid of this problem?

info:
txp 4.4.1 (r3575)
mlp-0.9.13-gp

You need mlp-4.3.0.12, normally available from http://txpforge.org/projects/list_files/mlp, but it seems to be down at the moment. Temporarily available here.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Hi,

Just a small question, I am using rss_auto_excerpt and within this is a hardcoded ‘keep reading …’ which as a temporary measure I have changed to

‘linktext’ => ‘more/más/mehr…’,

but I was wondering if there is any way to include a snippet within the code so I don’t have to add other languages and can have just the correct language one displayed.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Can’t you use the attribute linktext="##snippet##"?
