Designer workflow with textpattern

Hello world would be the most fitting phrase to start with here i guess since i’m new to the community and textpattern.

Earlier I designed with wordpress and symphony cms but started to glimse on textpattern this week. I really, really like the way TXP use xml like tags for cms markup and it’s quite easy to pick up on!

Tho since the section, pages, forms and & styles are stored in the database and foremost edited with the built-in-editor I really can’t get my head around how to do remote development on the server.

I know I could do markup/css local, copy paste to the built-in editor and add functionality, but that seems far from the best way…

So my question to you guys would be; How do you go from concept to published website using remote development with a real editor like Coda or Espresso for OS X ? (dunno about the windows ones). Aswell ass; If you don’t do remote development and still don’t use the built in editor then how do you do?

Cheers!

/Gustaf

Many seems to use cnk_versioning plugin. It has the ability to automatically import pages, forms and styles from static files to the database.

Re: Designer workflow with textpattern

I’ve tried cnk_versioning myself on a couple of projects but I still prefer to simply copy/paste from Coda into the TXP editor. I’m kind of hoping the next major update of Textpattern has both options available as a user choice out of the box.

Re: Designer workflow with textpattern

There are also extensions for integrating TXP in Coda, Textmate and Dreamweaver. Threads are bit scattered around the forum, and I don’t have links at hand, I use BBEdit.

In bad weather I never leave home without wet_plugout, smd_where_used and adi_form_links

Textpattern mode for Coda. Needs improvements in the future but works quite well.
