[mention] WordPress Sucks: Impress Search Engines With These Alternatives
On Search Engine Watch:
WordPress Sucks: Impress Search Engines With These Alternatives
Author describes Textpattern as “Easy to use, very flexible, feels like WordPress.” Not entirely sure I agree with #3.

Re: [mention] WordPress Sucks: Impress Search Engines With These Alternatives
Textpattern is dynamic and LAMP-based, unlike most of the other alternatives on his list so it probably “feels like WordPress” more than any of the others.
minor edit: Textile partially ate what I originally wrote.

Ho ho, that article has ignited some ‘impassioned arguments’ in its comments section.

Isn’t that article just blatant link bait with no actual value at all? Mention of Textpattern is just tiny fly next to all that bull.
Completely agree. There’s Nothing like getting people worked up in order to get those links is there!
Shame really, as it doesn’t help position Textpattern as a viable alternative to WP.

I am current my using wordpress for all my clients sites but am looking for an alternative. How would I install textpattern on blue host?
- Download Textpattern and extract the files to a folder on your computer.
- Copy those files to Blue Host, (in the web root, or choose a subdirectory). The top-level index.php should reside in this directory, as should the /textpattern/ and the /rpc/ directory.
- Create or establish the existence of a working MySQL database
- Load http://yoursite.com/textpattern/setup/ (or http://yoursite.com/subpath/textpattern/setup/) in a browser, and follow the directions.
(You can find the same information in the readme file of the Textpattern download)
You can get more detailed instructions on the Textpattern Documentation site.

The author spelled Textpattern correctly, at least. ;)

I didn’t read the article, but after getting more and more frustrated with Wordpress, I switched to Textpattern.
