Quick Question about article import/export

Not sure if txp could do this, so I thought I’d check.

I have a client who wants his product catalog online – but he needs to replace/update this several times a year.

I am wishing and fingers crossing that txp could do it, but I’m thinking that this is more of a hacked shopping cart thing.

The only way I have thought it could be done was to delete all existing articles – then re-import with jmd_csv…. actually, thats not a bad idea :)

Any other thoughts/input on how this might be possible?

Re: Quick Question about article import/export

I use jmd_csv at the start of each school term to import hundreds of calendar events into Textpattern and it works like a charm. In order to have more flexibility in what I could import I tweaked the plugin slightly. If you’re interested you can read more in my last few posts here:

One thing I found out the hard way is that jmd_csv doesn’t like any special characters such curly quotes and apostrophes, em dashes and fraction symbols, etc. So if you’re copying and pasting from a word processor that has converted text into this format you may need to reformat it before you try to import the CSV file.

Re: Quick Question about article import/export

Thanks Ross, Rabah – good to know about the problems with jmd_csv – I might even see if thats fixable (sorry tye-hackable).

I did think of adi_matrix (excellent plugin) – but I am talking 1000’s or articles which need updating – so not even that would work in this case
