Re: lam_browse_by (browse by category of articles/images/files in backend)

Thanks, just the kind of feature that makes my editing life easier.

Re: lam_browse_by (browse by category of articles/images/files in backend)

I find this little plugin quite useful. However it doesn’t work with TXP 4.4.1. Select fields won’t show up. It works with TXP 4.4.0.

Could someone with better javascript skills be able to explain what could be preventing it in TXP 4.4.1 from working.

Or perharps some good alternatives for organizing the article list, instead of the textpattern default?

I’ve kind of hald adopted this plugin and rewritten it for the latest Txp. Not released yet (although there’s no reason it couldn’t) so get in touch if you’d like a copy.

Re: lam_browse_by (browse by category of articles/images/files in backend)

Alrighty, the unofficial first version is on my beta page.

Differences from lam_browse_by:

  • Works on 4.3.0+ only (4.4.1+ recommended)
  • Browse all four content types
  • Browse by widget is added above Search box
  • Can also browse by Section on Article List panel
  • Can optionally add a Go button instead of the auto-submitting select list (see plugin help for details)

Let me know if it works ok.

Re: lam_browse_by (browse by category of articles/images/files in backend)

Thanks Stef!

Works for me.

One note:

Even though probably not very often the case, if there’s no categories, it will only display ‘or section’ and select field.

I’ve made couple of static sites that don’t use categories, so I changed this: 'by_sec' => 'or Section', to this: 'by_sec' => 'Browse by Section',

Ah yes, I noted that in the post that GugUser referred to above. Could get round it by cheating and putting the Section search first, then having ‘or by Category’ second :-) Will see if that’s easy to do, or use your method which is far simpler.

EDIT: I’ve created a dedicated support thread for the plugin, so we don’t annoy Steve by posting on his.

EDIT2: Your method is easier so we’ll go with that.
