Very small change to system requirements page
I’m writing a PHP script to check system requirements, and in my research I came across a very small error/SNAFU that needs tweaking here:
http://textpattern.com/about/119/system-requirements
The first paragraph makes mention of the PHP XML extension, listing it as being required. The second paragraph also makes mention of the PHP XML extension, listing it as being recommended. Which is it to be?

Re: Very small change to system requirements page
Required by XML-RPC, optional for handling some UTF-8 content (encoding and decoding). Textpattern 4.x should work without it just fine, apart from XML-RPC.
The situation is pretty much same as with mbstring extension. It would be really good if it was installed (usually both are), but TXP can work even without. You may (or well, will) get different results in some situations, when there are no right tools available for handling multibyte strings, but there are fallbacks in place nonetheless.

Isn’t RPC also used to get updated language strings?

Excellent – thanks, Gocom and ruud.
Perhaps this would be a good time to suggest some clarification on that page listed – it should be either required or recommended, but not both.

Thanks for the report. Fixed.

Thanks, wet. If you’re still editing that page, there’s a blank line left by the removal of XML in the second paragraph, which splits it into two unordered lists – I think best to have it as a single list.
