no safe operation

After clicking on a plugin status to disable it I got this message:

I’m sorry. I’m afraid I can’t do that. I think plugin switch_status is no safe operation at this time.

It is the first time I see it but a few minutes later I was able to disable the plugin without any problem.

A few minutes previously I was logged out from the back end 4 times.

Any ideas of what might have caused this behaviour?

Re: no safe operation

<guessing> If you were logged out of the back end, I suspect this message was from the CSRF mechanism triggering — perhaps you were issued with a new token for those pages when you logged back in? </guessing>

Re: no safe operation

Hi Steve

Might be a good guess.

Is the CSRF mechanism triggered if one is working on multiple browser windows?

If those multiple windows don’t share the same login session, then yes. You can’t use same account to log in on multiple devices at the same time.

You will be just kicked out, as you experienced. Also plugins that allows to manage logins on the frontside can cause same symptoms if those plugin update the session key, and you use it login to the frontside of the site.

I was using one browser, logged in to 2 sites and had multiple windows open as I was cross referring some info. The plugin i was trying to disable and returned the error was an old one which we don’t use with the latest design: ako_random_comment
