Improve internal search engine to find umlauts
In Finnish language (like in many other languages) there are a lot of words that have umlauts. Currently the internal search engine that comes with Textpattern doesn’t seem to find properly articles that have for example letters ä or ö. When I’m trying to find articles that have word “pääkaupunki”, it brings no search results. On the other hand using search word “paakaupunki” would find that stuff.

It’s funny as I just tried the searches in your site and it was the exact opposite for me. “pääkaupunki” returned 2 results and “paakaupunki” none.

That website at www.kuopassa.com/weblog could be using the plugin ob1_advanced_search. I don’t remember if it does and can’t really check because the Textpattern over there has been broken for a year. ;-) The umlaut problem with searches is a big problem for example in www.kierrätyskeskus.com and www.kirppikset.info.
