More quick fixes to the wiki Index page:
i) If ‘Importing from Moveable Type’ really has to be there (it’s an empty page at the moment), then it should be ‘Importing from Movable Type’. Equally, for completeness, there are references to b2 in the import tab, so there’s scope for an article.
ii) If ‘SVN Dev Install for Mac’ has to be there, is this another name for installing crockery over SVN?
iii) Change “You’re looking at the docs wiki for Textpattern CMS” to something like this “This is the documentation wiki for the Textpattern content management system (CMS)”, and link Textpattern to textpattern.com
FWIW, I have a personal gripe (minor, not a big deal) about wiki front pages with hyperlinks to blank/not-yet-created pages. It looks a bit low-rent. I would much prefer to see a smaller list of working pages and then pad them out with new articles as time goes by.
I am, of course, happy to be a wiki gnome on the front page if someone can give my account the appropriate juice.

Pete, I agree. I also don’t quite see the use of repeating the Orientation, Installation etc. indexes on the main index page. Also these indexes are created manually, and isn’t a wiki all about automatically doing such things? But I am by no means a content expert, so I’ll happily wait what Destry has to say about this.
For now I just corrected the typo.

I have no idea what “(developer version, not official)” means and why it only appears on this particular install method. As far as I can tell, though, it has been there just like that since the page was created.
I just checked and the wiki account I keep forgetting I have can’t edit the front page either.

The other install methods instruct how to checkout (download) stable release branches from the SVN repository. While, my guess is that, the page would instruct (if existed) how to checkout the dev branch instead of releases.

This is what I was thinking – a quick fix for this might be to clone the standard svn how-to and change the URLs…or just zap the hyperlink from the index.

Is it the Scarface movie where he says “I try to get out but they keep puuuuuuulling me back in.”
Guys,
Let’s remember that there is another objective for the home page, so everything that is there now was intended to be temporary anyway, which is one reason it was locked, so people weren’t working hard for nothing.
I’d recommend reviewing that other thread and then somone with some mockup time put together a concept of how the home page could be laid out more “glossy-ish” with some of the content ideas in mind.
Better to plan out the content (and design) first entirely then worry about making changes.
Continue your ideas, by all means, but I’m not sure you needed another thread.

We were just thinking about how we might break stuff while you’re away :)
