[mention] Textpattern mentioned in .net magazine's CMS article

Noticed in a CMS article on the cover of .net magazine while doing the shopping this morning. Took a quick look to see if Textpattern got a mention – happy to report that it was included in the list!

Re: [mention] Textpattern mentioned in .net magazine's CMS article

From the article, page 47:

TextPattern has a loyal following of designers and developers. It’s lightweight and fast, with a minimalist interface that adss to it’s appeal. You simply log in and it assumes you want to get started writing new content, so that’s the first thing you see. Custom fields make it feel more akin to a proper CMS than a blogging platform. For the non-technical it’s not and install-and-go CMS like WordPress, so there’s a learning curve. And the core features are failry basic, so you’ll find yourself installing a number of plug-ins by default.

Don’t quite know why know why they capitalize the ‘P’ in Textpattern.

I actually find that quite to the point.

Maybe they got confused by this one ;)

None of the mentioned systems were covered in massive detail, and there was no real comparison between them. Still, nice to see Textpattern mentioned along side all the usual suspects.

Re: [mention] Textpattern mentioned in .net magazine's CMS article

and of the 7 free CMSs listed, Textpattern is the only one with a tag system, i.e.

<txp:article> ... </txp:article>

as opposed to:

<?php if ( have_posts() ) : while (have_posts() ) : the_post(); ?> ... <?php endwhile; endif; ?>

(the example given for WordPress)

The “…” bit gets even worse in WP.
