What does JQuery do in a vanilla TXP?
Please excuse any dumbness in this question. I know what JQuery does and I know a little about its implementation…what I’m curious about is what it does in the front end of a vanilla Textpattern installation. No plugins, nothing fancy, just a straight-out-of-the-box installation (let’s say 4.4.0 to avoid confusion). Is it even required for a mostly-text site? If I don’t have fancy transitions can I just comment it out, or will things explode? One of the first things I do with an internet-side TXP install is to load JQuery from the Google CDN to speed up rendering times and reduce server load, I’m wondering if I even need it at all with my text-based sites.
Thank you in advance.

It is used by the admin side but not the front end. It isn’t even included in the default template.

Sigh. Mea culpa. I’m an idiot. You’re absolutely right. I must’ve been looking at modified page template.
