Advice on upgrade, from 4.0.8 to 4.4.0
Hi,
I’m on the process to upgrade a client big (for me) site : 611 articles, 920 images, 550 files. About 25 plugins.
I want to upgrade first, then replace some plugins by core tags, or other (and actually supported) plugins.
What the best way to do the job ? I have already do a backup from files and database…

Re: Advice on upgrade, from 4.0.8 to 4.4.0
I upgraded TXP.org from 4.0.5 to 4.4 last weekend.
First backups of all files and the database.
Install the rvm_maintenance plugin, so your visitors get a nice message.
Then update to TXP 4.4 (upgrade procedure is documented somewhere on the wiki) and log in on the admin side. Then check to see what breaks and fix it by updating plugins (I don’t expect a lot of problems if you’re upgrading from 4.0.8. The stuff I had to fix was related to changes that happened before TXP 4.0.8).
Finally deactivate the rvm_maintenance plugin.
And if you want to clean up by replacing plugin tags with new core tags, you can do that later on. It’s not necessary to do this as part of the upgrade.
