If one article displayed

I thought this would be quite a simple thing to do but several hours later I’m not so sure…

I want to detect wether only one article is displayed. I’ve been playing around with the <txp:search_result_count /> tag and some custom php code but can’t get it to work.

Basically, I list all the articles under a section then when the user clicks on the article title the article is displayed on its own. It works fine in the articles list phase but when I click through to a specific article the number of articles is not detected.

Is there a standard way of doing this simple task?
