Best practises with streaming mp3 and easy administration for clients

Hi,

I’m working on a site for a client.
The client wish to have wysiwyg interface for editing purposes. For this I’m using the TineMce-plugin which works great! My problem is how to best include streaming audio previews into textpattern.

In the “Discography”-section we are listing the clients CD recordings. Some of the tracks should have streaming audio preview but not all.
I’m thinking a single article for every CD (about 15 CD’s total). And a custom field for each track’s title and file id. For this I need about 40 custom fields to be sure.

Is this possible?

Any other solution perhaps?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi joel,
I hope I’ve not missed something but I think you can use only one custom field in which you can insert a comma separated list of file ids.
You can then set the title in the appropriate “title” or “description” field for each file (in the ‘files’ tab).
If you want to ease the whole process for your client you can have a look at the bot_file_upload plugin which let’s you upload and edit files directly in the ‘write’ tab.

Hi redbot! Thanks for your fast reply!

Yes, I’m aware of the comma separated file id’s. But that is not the solution I’m afraid. Let me demonstrate a typical article for you

Article title

Some text and images (CD cover etc)

1. Title of track 1
2. Title of track 2 – Mp3 player for this track
3. Title of track 3
4. Title of track 4 – Mp3 player for this track

Etc.

Is it possible to first list all the tracks in the tinymce editor and after that link a few chosen ones to its file?

Re: Best practises with streaming mp3 and easy administration for clients

Ok joel, now I understand.
Unfortunately I haven’t a solution in this case. And regarding tiny_mce I’m sorry there isn’t a feature similar to the image insert plugin but for files (if you look in the hak_tinymce thread you’ll find there have been similar requests in the past).
The only way I know is linking manually every title with the corresponding file, if any, but this is not really a solution to your issue.

I’m looking at the glz_custom_fields plugin. Can this plugin give me unlimited number of custom fields? The plugin presentation in the first post is not very detailed….

Definitely yes. Other than a lot of other nice features.
