[SOLVED] Help! Fatal error

Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference in /var/www/html/ec/mysite.tld/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php(638) : eval()'d code on line 26

I’ve never seen this before. I just published some updates to templates, and it broke the entire site. Same code works fine on development server. I’m about to revert through version control, but any help tracking down the problem would be greatly appreciated!

Diagnostics is suddenly giving me this error:

Pre-flight check

clean_url_data_failed: <br />

Never had that problem before.

As it happens I just looked up txplib_misc.php(638) in reference to another post, and it’s where plugin code is tested. This error message is, as I recall, something that PHP started treating more strictly in PHP 5.

I was able to fix it by restoring the database from this morning’s backup. Woo! I think there was a glitch in a plugin I tested today, and it worked fine after I installed a revised version of the plugin.
