[request] Android & Txp: an even more killing application?
After the iPhone-related one inspired by Destry’s discovery, I start another thread dedicated to vapourware apps for smartphones.
This article is very interesting and, maybe, despite technical reasons, Android is truly more tpx-ish than iOS (iPhone now is a standard like WP)…

Yes, I also think TXP fits better in Android than in iOS, and since Android devices are fast overtaking iPhone devices, I would say it’s the better road to take.
(iPhone now is a standard like WP)
A standard, let me see, the smart phone market is in it’s infancy, while the web is a mere toddler. So our future is full of DRMed devices that can’t be opened to replace the battery and insecure web sites that are difficult to modify by the layperson. Wow, leaps and bounds, iShoot my browser please ;)

Re: [request] Android & Txp: an even more killing application?
I understand but… the iPhone phenomenon is very strange. There are billions of apps, accessories, websites and magazines that have the iPhone/iPad version ( read carefully: not the “generic smartphone” the “iPhone” version) and the Android development is slowed down by the different devices that the programmer must know and take care of… (at least: I imagine so, I’m not a developer).
It’s a strange world: it’s like the oem parts for Ferrari would be the most easy to find on the market… :/

Oliver’s txpmobile theme work’s great on Android. You can upload images and files even directly from the browser in Android 2.2 (on my Nexus One)
I think the Android site and blog have tons of tips to make developing for multiple devices easier. I get the feeling not all app developers are paying attention and many just develop for the device they have until someone complains.

It’s not that strange, when you realize that the iPhone has spurred interest in smart phones, which necessitates additional data rate plans from your carrier of choice. Where in the past your cell phone would cost you $40 to $50 a month, well now it’s almost $100 a month for the convenience to see how many hits that YouTube video you just posted of Grandma losing her dentures in the soup bowl is getting.
They’ve suckered you in, and they’ll milk the iPhone phenomenon anywhere and everywhere they can.

I can see the potential of tpx more expressible on android. This tandem can make greater development on the applications. The concern we got to use tpx specifications more inaugurated on android phones.

Re: [request] Android & Txp: an even more killing application?
I spent two years with an iPhone 3G on AT&T before switching to a Droid X on Verizon a few months ago. The iPhone could do some really interesting things but the Droid actually feels like a computer that I happen to be holding in my hand.
The thing is, though, while I certainly use content services like Facebook and Twitter and Posterous and Picplz from my phone, I haven’t really felt the need to actually do anything blog-related yet. That will be an interesting transition over the next few years.

It would be very interesting to launch TXP 5 in bundle with an Android management tool (optimized for the Samsung Galaxy Tab, for example): the CMS would obtain a great visibility on Android-related webzines, for example.
