Textpattern site structure help..
Hello all, I need some help/suggestions on creating a site structure under textpattern..
So, what I need,
Companies > products > product info.
I have a page with several companies, links to a page with products offered by the specific company picked, links to product info of the specific product picked…
Im getting stuck thinking here. I can make “companies” a section, products a category within section, but it needs to have the same page layout correct? Where can I add the product info?
Any help would be appreciated..
Thanks

Re: Textpattern site structure help..
Here’s what I’d do:
Companies: section
Products: articles
Every products are grouped using categories. With some conditional tags isn’t impossibile!
Can you post some page code?

Re: Textpattern site structure help..
Hey wornout, I dont have any code yet, I was just trying to think it through, still in the planning faze.. So your saying companies is a section, products are articles, whithin that section?
I was hoping the seperate companies could be articles within the section companies, like that they are easily updated by the user.
Could I just do it this way::
section companies, the actual companies are articles within.
section products, products are articles within section products, product info are categories..
Somehow link the company articles individually to the product articles in their own section..?
or maybe im just tired because its late, and nothing Im writing is making any sense to me right now….
Ill re-read this tomorrow….

Re: Textpattern site structure help..
V.1: If Product use Style A, If Category1 Use Style.Category1.Company, If Category2 Use Style.Category2.ProdType
Article Title: Product Name
Section: Products
Category1: Company
Category2: Product Type
You are smart to plan first. I suggest the product be it’s own section but you can produce other variations too. Generally I keep Section: Company for articles like About, People, News, Contact, Press Releases, Media, Logos and I would create Categories if you need, say for Press Releases since there will be many but I’d add one direct link to the About Article since there may only be one.
I hope this helps and my blog has a style now for each section and I’m not done yet with the style selection per category on the design section.
Hope this helps.
