Help With Gallery

Hi,

I’m working on a website for an artist who wants her Gallery page to be archived by year. She’s not very tech-savvy, so it has to be relatively easy for her to update herself. The url is http://www.sarahlederman.com/gallery/

The route I have started going down is for each image to have a Category named by Year (you can see that so far I have only done 2008). I have created a new section+page for “2008”, but this seems a bit clumsy, and wouldn’t automatically create pages for upcoming years (i.e. 2011 onwards). Is there a way to have a menu of links to the Image Categories automatically without manually creating a new page for each category?

Or is there a better way to achieve my aim of archiving by date? (By date I mean the date the artwork was created rather than the date it was uploaded).

Sorry if my question is unclear, but I’d appreciate any hints…

edit. forgot to mention that I am using smd_slimbox plugin to display the image gallery.

After a long time hunting around and experimenting I think I’ve stumbled across my own answer: using the <txp:category_list /> tag.

edit: think I’m more or less there with this one now!
