TXP 4.2 bug
Just stumbled across a bug in 4.2. Visiting the Articles tab and searching for articles under the section “news” brings me 4 articles, all except one is placed in the “Announcements” category.
Select the 4th article, and then with choose “Change category1” from the select drop down, choose “Announcements” from the second select drop down and press go.
The article is deleted! The same holds for articles when doing the reverse – choosing the change the category1 from “Announcements” to “”.

I can’t reproduce this, but I don’t have a section called news or a category called announcements. I did search for a section I did have and did set/unset a category1 for one of the matching articles, but no problem there.
What are the minimum steps required to reproduce this and does it matter which category/section is involved?

Hi Ruud, I did not feel like testing it any more because its on a live site! The steps I followed are outlined above and I subsequently tested it again with another article that I created specifically to see if it happened again – and yes, that article got deleted too.

Just like Ruud, I can’t reproduce the behaviour.
list_multi_edit() function runs deletion only when select[name=edit_method] has the ‘delete’ option selected, no matter what is modified.
Jonathan, can you post your site’s high diagnostics? It could be a plugin. Also would be interesting to see what the resulting markup on the page is after the multiedit dropdown’s JavaScript. Maybe for some reason the delete option is sent.

Just did another test and the same thing happened – the article was deleted after selecting to set the category1 to an unset value.
Here is the high diagnostics – note its a multi-site install so there is an error message with the index.php. Also there is one custom plugin that goes with the mem_moderation plugin.
