simple social network

I need to create for a client a really simple social network.
similar to a dating site.
The backend for the users wont be the textpattern backend, it will be a custom backend for them to modify their profiles, upload pictures and stuff…

Is it worth it to take the time and build it using textpattern, or is there a simpler CMS for constructing a site like that?

Seems to me that if you are doing a custom admin for the users – then why not just have that same backend manage the site as well?

wish they all were as simple to use and undertand as textpattern… i am having a hard time with all those social cms´s out there…
