[textile] New home/TLD for Textile (domain name suggestions)
As a follow-up for Bloke’s blog post Textile and TXP: the future …
He’s also requested we make this topic more visible in the forums, hence this post.
There are 2 so far that IMHO makes sense and both are available as of this post:
- textilethis.com (courtesy of net-carver)
- gettextile.com (courtesy of wet, I believe, as per net-carver’s comment post)
One of the ideas with having a TLD for Textile was to use subdomains for the different implementations too; for example, php.textilethis.com, like net-carver suggested, for the PHP implementation, of course.
Anyone care to add a few more candidates for the TLD or share their thoughts about the current suggestions for Textile?
What about textileit.com or usetextile.com to get things started? (^_^)

easywebtext.whatever
humanewebtext.whatever
just off the top of my head. Haven’t checked availability.

I think a public discussion of domain names for Textile is somehow counterproductive. A wicked person could follow this thread and buy all those domain names… Just my 2 ct.

Gerry
thanks for starting the thread.

I wouldn’t have thought that would be a problem — more likely to be the domain search engines noticing commonalities in search terms. Still, if you’ve an idea just send me a forum email and I’ll check it out. Non-disclosure will, however, preclude public discussion of ideas.

Maybe it’s just my own wicked thinking ;)
Anyway, I think gettextile.com is a fine domain name, very modern.

Taking the ‘textile-less’ domain-name theme a little further, how about just easytext.xyz (some TLDs taken but .org/.net are free), humanetext.xyz or even humantext.xyz?

I rather like humantext. Even though Dean’s tagline was “The Humane Web Text Generator”, humanetext sounds like a manifesto for the SPCA.

Heya folks. Just repeating a comment I made on the blog thread coz I’m not sure how many read them.
I have one of the “lifetime” Joyent accounts from back when they were TextDrive. I can host way more domains than I can use — I think I can still host maybe 20 domains. Would be happy for the Textile domain(s) (whatever the name(s)) to be hosted in my spare space.
Wow first time I’ve posted here in years.

All
Hi, been a while now so bumping this. Any more ideas?
Are folks also really attached to the ‘textile’ brand name I wonder? I get a bit weary of wading through non-relevant search results whenever I do a search for textile related stuff — but perhaps it’s just me and I need to attend a course about using google efficiently.

I like HumanText. Not much out there at the moment that returns stuff so it’d be easy to ‘own’ that name.
I concur having to sift through search results about the industrial revolution and the textile industry is a little tedious (case in point: when I was looking for textile ports to other programming languages). Is there a spare slot on that search engine course, Steve? ;-)

Wonder when Gruber will realize the SEO mistake he made with “markdown”.
