database maintenance

Is there anything you should occasionally do with the TXP database to keep it uncorrupted and efficient? Or is this part of the server activity of your host – that it should be a routine activity for them?

I’m thinking in particular of 1) the factor of fragmentation and 2) the “optimise database” command in MySql.

If the latter is occasionally necessary, the next question would be how to run it from within TXP. rss_admin_db_manager gives you access to MySql commands so it is a good idea to run this command occasionally, and what exactly do you have to insert in the command field to to this?
