Re: Site design images
Phil, the separator image and TXP logo (the old one) are still in the latest SVN as they form part of the default template.

Re: Site design images
Ah, OK.
With a bit of amending to the default template CSS (and due to the fact that the TXP carver logo is already stored in the admin images directory) those two images could be removed from future updates with no real impact to the overall design.
Off topic – I’d like to see a fresher look to the default theme in the future anyway (and Remora to be the default admin theme too for that matter), as I’m sure that puts a few people off when they first install textpattern. First impressions and all that.
I’d be happy to take a look at the default theme when I get some spare time next month.

Redbot – Well that’s what I do now but essentially it is bypassing Txp which is meant to be my site’s management system but it isn’t managing ALL of my site, at least not all of the presentation side of my site.
I get your point but I have a different opinion on CMSes. I think they should be meant for content management and not presentation management.
As for complexity, what complexity? It’s an extra tab in “Presentation”. As for the extra tab itself, it does not need any of the complexity of the current “Images” tab, for example it would not require categories, captions, dates(probably), tags(probably), author(probably) or thumbnails. Very simple.
Have you considered that txp replaces image names with numbers? I don’t think it will help so much if you get a css like this:
body{background:23.gif;}
instead of
body{background:bg_image.gif;}
…unless you add another function which manages image uploads only for the “site images” tab and keeps image names.
