mysql setup using MediaTemple host
I’m having major problems getting MySQL set up. Media Temple is my host. I keep receiving the “Can’t connect to database” error.
I’ve tried several variations using the internal hostname, external hostname, database name, database username, and the hostname in the MySQL login and MySQL database fields. I’ve both added and omitted “yourhostID_” as a prefix in the MySQL login and MySQL database fields, but nothing seems to do the trick.
Can anyone help, please?

Can you access phpMyAdmin to check the name of the DB? Should be in your control panel somewhere..

Re: mysql setup using MediaTemple host
jstubbs Yes, I can access it. I had already used the database name (db#####_name) and user name (db#####
###.###.###.##) from the phpMyAdmin, but none of those options worked for me.

Re: mysql setup using MediaTemple host
If you are entering the correct DB name, then you need to double check the password for the DB and also the server name – usually this is localhost but I don’t know what they use on Media Temple.

Re: mysql setup using MediaTemple host
I’ve never had any trouble setting up at database at Media Temple, though they do have their own unique setup. It takes this form:
Username: db12345
Password: XXXXXXXX
Internal Host: internal-db.s56789.gridserver.com
db name: db12345_databasename
TextPattern user since 04/04/04
