Static pages missing?
Hi -
I’m having a strange problem on my new textpattern installation where all the static pages (About, Articles) other than the homepage are missing. I tried making a new one using the following steps, and it’s missing too:
I created a new article form called ‘sub_article’
I copied the default page template to a new template called ‘sub_page’
I made a new section named ‘submissions’ and even posted a sticky article to it
but when I go to mysite/submissions, my browser says it’s missing. Am I missing something? The site is hosted on a dreamhosters.com subdomain – could that have anything to do with it?

I havent understund all the situation, but try to change article status from “sticky” to “live”

What is your permanent link mode ?
If it is the default section/id/title (or any “clean” URL mode), do you pass the clean URL test? (see Diagnostics)
Also note that a sticky article won’t appear until you add an article status="sticky" tag to your page template.

Just tried that, and it didn’t work. Here’s a better example of what’s not working:
When I click an articles title, to be taken to the articles static page (mysite/articles/2/title-of-article/), even THAT page is missing.

Thanks for your help, this appears to be exactly the problem. I changed the “permanent link mode” to messy, and now the subpages work. My question now, then, is if I want to enable “clean URLs”, do I need to create an .htaccess file on the server? Thanks!

Yes, you need an .htaccess file for clean URLs. The default Txp .htaccess is supposed to work on Dreamhost, as indeed I can confirm. Did you upload it? You might have missed it if you unpacked the Txp download on your local filesystem and then FTP’d to Dreamhost.

Incidentally, if you use Dreamhost stats you’ll need to add a few lines to your .htaccess, as suggested by Dreamhost (search for “Textpattern”).
