SEO in Textpattern CMS

I’ve started working on SEO for a company today and have spent the morning analysing their website and they are using a CMS called ‘Textpattern’ which was set up by the web development company they paid to design their site.

I’ve done a bit of googling into how seo friendly this cms is and they claim that you can use unique keywords and page titles, etc, but I cannot find that option anywhere within the backend.

Does anyone have any experience with using Textpattern at all that could maybe offer some advice?

It looks like the web development company haven’t given the client full admin access because when I go to the ‘admin’ area, all I get is an option to change password and email address.

Re: SEO in Textpattern CMS

See FAQ for a way to reset the password for the admin user.
Or if you want to give your own user full access, edit the txp_users table and change the ‘privs’ column to ‘1’ for your user account.

When you edit an article, you can add keywords. It’s one of the options on the left side of the screen, but you to click on one of the options there to make it visible.

Re: SEO in Textpattern CMS

Check out Article dependent meta description in page header. This should get you started.

!: For a beginner it’s important to know that not all txp:tags work in page templates. That’s why I use the trick to make a double call for two different forms. So if you discover a txp:tag which outputs nothing on a page template then you have to try the double <txp:output_form form="" /> trick.

Tip: If you want to try out multiple SEO tricks in article forms and/or page templates you should outsource them into forms. This way you can enhance the underlying page content in single articles or lists pretty easy dynamically without cluttering your templates or article forms.
