plugin to get articles pages on adminside organized
I’ve been thinking about the following thing for some time, as i have found out again and again my article pages being far too messy for easy usage.
I had this idea for plugin, which could sort out articles page, which becomes quite slow to use when you have 20+ articles. Of course you dont have to edit every single of them all the time, but i have built sites that need constant updating on most of the pages.
Approach i had in mind is quite simple nested treeview, first level being sections, and then branched by categories. Under the categories could be simple list of articles included in that category.
It could be even nicer if sections and categories could be expanded or minimized, so even in big and complex sites browsing thru sections and categories could be quite fast.
Theres ofcourse downside in this kind of view. First of all, all data that is now shown on article listing, couldn’t be visible in same way, as it might be very messy. This wouldnt be problem for me, but maybe it should be figured out somehow. As im writing i had idea of simple onmouseover triggered infobox next to cursor, when you move it on top of articles name.
How does this sound to you guys? there might be even better ideas, but this has stuck in my head so i needed to let it out. I havent done any modifications or plugins to txp so far, so i thought if somebody likes the idea, he could possible make it aswell? :)

Re: plugin to get articles pages on adminside organized
I’ve always thought that browsing per section (and category) would be very handy.
I don’t have the time right now, but it’s one of those things I’d like to do in the form of a plugin sometime…

I agree that sorting through the Content->Articles list can be awkward. Simpler than a tree view would be keeping the current layout, but allowing multiple sort criteria. If you could sort on section then category you would be able to find articles pretty quickly even without the tree view. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like a trivial change given the current code. Doable, yes, but not a one-liner.
