Insert header banner
This is my first attempt with TXP but I have spent hours going through the info here and manuals…I am trying to substitute my own banner, on the default with <!— head —>
<div id=“head”>
<img src=”/images/licensed_expert_logo.png” alt=“NuCorporation” />
</p>
but all I get is the alt text. I could use some help…

welcome to the forum. Can I ask if you uploaded your .png image via textpattern’s content > images
tab — or did you just S/FTP it into the images directory?
If you uploaded via the tab then…
- look for the image in
content > images
page. You should see it in the list if you created a thumbnail as you uploaded it. - Just to the right you’ll see a column called tags. For now, click on the XHTML entry.
- A pop up should appear. Just hit build tag.
- Copy the built tag and paste it into your default page.
I hope that helps.
Edited to add: Just to explain what’s going on here. Although the file might be called blahblahblah.png on your filesystem, when you upload it via the admin interface TXP renames it, giving it an numeric name like ‘1.png’. You need to refer to the images by their newly assigned numeric name for them to appear in your site. Thumbnails get a ‘t’ suffix so 3t.png would be the thumbnail for your 3rd image.

Re: Insert header banner
Thank you, very much. I did upload through TXP so I could get used to the system. I did see the number, when I uploaded and also read about it. The example I saw in the forum, must have been FTP’d in (like I would have normally done it). I am enlightened now….Thank you, for quick response.

Re: Insert header banner
No problem.
There are a few advantages of upload via TXP’s images tab over (s)ftp — for example, you don’t need an ftp login to the server. You can also add alt text/caption/thumbnail etc and these will be automatically added for you by the tag builder every time you need them. You can also use the uploaded images in any of your articles by placing its numeric id in the ‘Article image’ field & there are several great plugins that can make use of this field (or TXPs images in general) for building a gallery.
