Moving from one domain to a different domain
Has anyone seen documentation to move a site bulit on textpattern to a new domain and server?

Relatively simple task. Just backup the database and files, copy the db and files over, and change the DB connection settings in /textpattern/config.php and path’s in TXP’s preferences panel.

Should I change the path/site url before I backup the db so that it reflects the new domain I’m installing to?

What does it mean if after installation, I type in the new domain and it prompts me to download the index.php file?

You change the path in config.php locally in your computer before you upload in the new host.
Once you login in the new domain/host change everything which needs changing in admin>preferences and admin>preferences>advanced.

Is this reproducible for you (i.e. you still can’t save your domain setting) or did it happen only once?
For the former: open a new topic in Troubleshooting. The latter can happen in FF<v3.n (3.6 I think) if you’ve used history buttons and FF’s prefs are set to auto-fill forms.

Uli- the issues occurs repeatedly regardless of browser. I tried multiple browsers. It must be something I’m doing….
