4.2 Essential Plugins...
A search for the essential plugins developers automatically add to every new installation of Textpattern 4.2 turned up little.
As one who is reacquainting myself with Textpattern, can anyone tell me if the “most used” plugins have changed now that Textpattern is at version 4.2?
If I’ve overlooked the search item that points to this answer, I’ll gladly stand corrected if you’ll point me to the answer. :-)
Thanks.

Re: 4.2 Essential Plugins...
A quick reply.
This are the basic, imho:
- cnk_versioning: allows to work with pages and forms as files in the filesystem
- glz_custom_fields: unlimited custom fields
- Stef’s swiss army knife
- smd_if: conditionals that will let you even test if the Universe exists
- smd_each: iterate over stuff
- smd_multi_choice: a switch-like thing
- smd_gallery
- smd_query: if needed, go far beyond than where txp:article and txp:article_custom could take you
- smd_calendar: articles as events, in a way that feels just right
- smd_where_used: look for some string in your page, forms, articles and css.
- rvm_privileged: if you need to manage some “admin only” stuff in site’s front end
- rah_metas: for easy managamente of meta stuff
- rah_external_output: for when you need some custom output that doesn’t deserve its own section and page template
- rah_function: to make every PHP function, a TXP tag
- rah_plugin_installer: if you would like to install rah_ plugins quickly and easily.
- gbp_permanent_links: if you would like some custom pretty URLs
- aks_cache: to speed up your site
- ebl-image-edit: for easily editing (cropping, resizing, thumbnail creation, etc) of images, directly in your browser
- adi_calc: for quick & basic math
- upm_textile: to textilize whatever you want.
- ied_plugin_composer: to make it easier to export all the above plugins into php files and run then from plugin_cache_dir. It makes it easier to have a repository/folder of TXP plugins and move them to any other TXP project quickly.
And there are probably many more that you may find essential: check textpattern.org
Hope it helps.

Also, let’s add the wonderful MLP pack to the list. It’s not a pure plugin, it needs just a little hack to just a file. The MLP will let you easily develop and manage multi-lingual websites.

What? No ZCR in the list?

Don’t forget the admin-side customisation suite: Stef’s smd_admin_themes and Redbot’s bot_write_tab_customize and bot_privs

Re: 4.2 Essential Plugins...
I stumbled upon an old post on a website that has a good list and explanation of some good plugins:

Don’t forget upm_image with Smart Image Resizer to create dynamically sized images – it’s awesome!
