Never used Textpattern before, how do I use it?

So forever I’ve just used freewebs, but it’s so bad and slow that I’ve moved to Textpattern. I have no idea how to use it or what to do.
I googled it and there were pictures but it seems to be different to mine, they have a website.
I’ve downloaded textpattern (zip file), and now all I have is some folders saved under My Documents, saved under ‘Textpattern’.
I don’t know what to do next?
I don’t understand how I log into my site

Also, sorry if I have posted this under the wrong place, but I would appreciate help. Thank you

First you need an server where to install Textpattern. From your post it seems that you are looking for a free (blog) host? I could be wrong tho but I got the feeling, if that is not the case I’m sorry. Anyway, Textpattern is an “application”, content management system that runs on servers, not an hosting provider.

Gocom that’s what I need. I knew I needed somewhere to host but I just didn’t know when I would need it. Thank you

Actually, you can set up your development computer to behave like a hosted environment. You will need three things; Apache, MySQL and PHP. Depending on what operating system you use, download and install MAMP (for Mac), WAMP (Windows). If you happen to be on a Linux machine, read up on setting up a webserver. Read up on the basic structure of setting up your web server and how to install an application (like TextPattern) in the web root and develop away!
