Mail settings on XAMPP
Something weird is going on with my setup.
I am developing on a local installation of XAMPP. Textpattern installs and works as expected EXCEPT when it comes to mail.
In MercuryMail, I have successfully set up several email addresses in the form “abcd@localhost”. I know that these work, because I can successfully send emails backwards and forwards using a plain email client.
When I set up users in Texpattern, I can’t use the “abcd@localhost” address but have to use “abcd@localhost.com” instead – Textpattern returns an error for email addresses without the “.com”. I then go into the database and modify the address. However, no emails are ever sent from Textpattern. For example, the email sent when resetting the password just never gets there – I’m not smart enough to figure out where in the process the emails fail (ie. sent but not received, never sent, etc).
Any ideas? Without this, I can test the password reset function in ign_password_protect.
Thanks

Re: Mail settings on XAMPP
Could it be because I have a sent up a virtual host?
My current setting means that the address “local.guisescreek.org” points to the Textpattern site on my local XAMPP installation.
Does this mean that email addresses should match “abcd@local.guisescreek.org”?
