Hierarchy with categories or sections?

I want to create a hierarchy on a corporate site and I’m wondering whether to use nested categories (stw_category_tree) or subsections (adi_menu) to achieve it. I’d like to use categories since I need 4 levels and it seems kind of messy to use sections for it.
I want to fill different <div> containers with the child-categories of the active parent. (Top-Categories in div1, when a category is selected -> display child categories in div2, when a subcategory is selected in div2 -> display the right sub-subcategories in div3). Then there’s the content div with an article for the selected category and another div with categories that are not strictly hierarchical, but somehow connected to the selected category. Like an instruction manual for the selected product, but the manual could be the same for another product. (Maybe instruction manual is a bad example, since it’s usually only for a specific product, but I hope you know what I mean.)
What’s the best way to go?

Re: Hierarchy with categories or sections?

Hi, I believe that as this is a commercial site your choice of categories is a good one. I have recently published this tip which might be of help. It uses not plugins. It can easily be changed to include sub-(sub)-(etc).
