Slim Orange Admin Theme

Howdy,

made a little admin theme and thought I’d post here in case it might be of interest. Screen and download available here .

It will not look optimal on IE and Opera (sorry folks) but it should still be ok. If not, lemme know. Cheers!

Re: Slim Orange Admin Theme

Nice and simple, thanks. Installs in one-click with smd_admin_themes, too; w00t!

Just one thing in my version: the Extensions tab is a bit crowded and stuff spills onto the next line but it doesn’t quite look right when it does. I guess there’s not much you can do about it splitting a tab mid-word(?)

That’s in FF 3.6.

Re: Slim Orange Admin Theme

Thanks Stef! (Yes, I did actually use your plug-in to export ;) Good you post this – I will have a look at what one can do to avoid such behaviour.

Re: Slim Orange Admin Theme

Ok, Stef. New file uploaded at the same location. Tabs should not break now but since I can not predict the length of the sub-navigation, it will wrap if there’s too little space. This is better than hiding it at overflow because some folks might have real tiny screens and thaaaaat many extensions.

Re: Slim Orange Admin Theme

I can confirm the one-click installation and a very good theme too. Would you like it to go onto Textgarden? I’m trying my level best to keep all these in one place. ;)

Sure. The TXP documentation states that one can upload themes, but there is no obvious way and no information on Textgarden as to how one can contribute. Maybe this could be made more obvious?

Btw, after Stef posted the capture with a type of use I am not normally observing, I have some thoughts about deeper backend restructuring. I am very fond of the tabs but maybe one can find a compromise when content is too much. Guess I’ll meditate on that.

Re: Slim Orange Admin Theme

What TXP documentation would that be?

Anyway it is now up on Textgarden. Could you please change any download links to use the Textgarden download and if you tell me how many downloads you have already I will add them to the database.

Re: Slim Orange Admin Theme

This was my first read.
It refers to uploading at Textgarden. Yesterday I noticed that in Textgarden you have written that people should send an email, but there is no address at the place where this is mentioned. My suggestion above was to perhaps make that more obvious. I know I’m all too picky when it comes to such things :)

And, I changed the download link. The count at my site is at 7. Cheers!

Documentation adjusted to make it clearer, thanks. It now refers to ‘submitting’ the theme rather than ‘uploading’ it. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Slim Orange Admin Theme

Ralitza – I’ve added your downloads to the count and I have also added a note in the sidebar about using the contact form to get in touch if you want to get a theme added. Whilst I was at it I also spotted a styling fault in the contact form so thanks for that. ;)

Stef – there used to be a time many moons ago when the site allowed registration but it just became way too messy so I stopped it. That’s probably where the confusion stemmed from.

Re: Slim Orange Admin Theme

I wonder about something, with a risk to be touching a no-touch subject, but the sub-links on the left are all in capitals (on both sites) and this makes the longer ones harder to read. Just a thought.

Oh, and good you added this short note, Stuart. I’d title it “Submit Theme” but I’ll stop with that right here :)
