my first edition AD&D site
This is my paper and pencil first edition AD&D game site, over 1,000 maps in Campaign Cartographer 3 format, with png files as well. Towns, cities, people, nations, etc.
The lamp post is an early picture that was used some years ago to show various aspects of Pov-ray, the ray tracing program. The small castle at the top of the site is from another site’s pov-ray tutorials.
Someday, all of the html will be gone and it will all be in the database. 800 html pages down, only 2,600 ( approximately ) to go. A few civilizations to imagine, cities to draw and populate, lots of typing.
I hope you enjoy it.
Ideas on layout welcome.

Re: my first edition AD&D site
Any suggestions on making this site look snazzy, or should I leave it just it is ?
I refer to style, menu structure, etc.
Thanks.

Ambitious project! I like the way you display the maps. I don’t play D&D but this seems like it would be a good resource.

I’ll be adding Daz 3D Studio items to this site as well… after I learn the software. I did buy some files for Castle Construction (walls, towers, keep, gatehouse, etc.), and Saxon Settlement.
The commercial items, I’ll just be putting the jpg/pngs on my site, not the object files.

Re: my first edition AD&D site
I must agree that this is an ambitious project. I do not know much about D&D but i am exposed to it through my brother. The way the maps are displayed is really great but you could have appended a smaller map to let the visitor see the whole picture. But that’s not what this is about, it’s about the 3d images but it would help the visitor get around your page.

Re: my first edition AD&D site
Well… I have tried to display a planet map, small size.
Excrutiatingly difficult to draw in a smaller scale.
There are many surface maps, each is 180 miles and 234 miles. in 70 columns of 20 rows each. one thousand 400 when I am done. Then there will be more village, town, and city maps, other than the ones I have done so far. And the peope
That is why I use the menus at the top of my site.
If you are interested in looking at the entire globe, dial-up shouldn’t try to load this page, all of the world map thumbnails World All on one page. World All
You can see from this that it isn’t a small area to reduce to a small one page map. I would like to do so, but I don’t think it is possible.

Re: my first edition AD&D site
I added a Northern Hemisphere, drawn using Fractal Terrain Pro. It is nice and small so it can easily be displayed on one page. No sideways scrolling needed.
I’ll add detailed maps as I have time.
Still not sure how to shrink the Southern Hemisphere of all those maps so it still displays well.

Re: my first edition AD&D site
Urf. The hemisphere sizes are way different.
I’ll have to add 63.3 columns to the Southern Hemisphere so they match in diameter. And the Northern is 12000 miles, while the Southern is less than 5000 miles from equater to south pole.
Getting the Southern Hemisphere to become a smaller scale map so it fits in the same size png as the Northern Hemisphere is goig to be probably beyond my skills for a long while.
