Password protect part of TXP site with cookies

Hi all,

Here’s a head scratcher for you: I have an login system on my site (which is not part of textpattern) but I want to try and set it up so that when logged in, users can be then be directed back to view certain extra sections of the textpattern CMS content that were not accessible without login. I’m guessing I can set up a cookie during the login which could then be checked when going back to textpattern content, but how would I set up and check the cookie?

It would only be whole sections of content that require login, not additional content on the same pages as non-logged in users, so hopefully that is simple enough to do? Although, it would be awesome going forward to have extra content on existing pages for registered users, but that is a bigger leap than I want to do at this stage.

BTW ign_password_protect and mem_self_register are not appropriate for my (very specific) need.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Phil
