Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

liniocht and ploinkr

It doesn’t seem to be a general problem, I’m running MLP 0.9.13-gp on Txp 4.2.0 and I’m perfectly able to change section and category titles. So I guess it must be something in the setup that’s causing it. I tested it in both a fresh install and on a site that has had several upgrades and is running on the latest versions of both Txp and MLP now as well. Both are on the same server, and I don’t have an MLP site on another server, so I can’t test if it’s related to the server setup.

Graeme seems to be too busy at the moment, I don’t mind doing some more testing but someone has to tell me what to test exactly…

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Els,
I thought it might be caused by installation procedure, but it seems I follow the instruction supplied with 0.9.13. at least to my understanding. Can it be an important step is omited in the instruction? Is it possible to interpret the instruction the wrong way?

I tried it on my linux server and on a FreeBSD virtual machine with the same result. I tried it with English and Russian, and I tried it on new installation with English and Norwegian – with the same result.

Section title field in default language is mapped to ‘Title’ filed in txp_sections table. It’s editable but it’s not displayed in the frontend, cause the frontend wants the title from ‘l10n_title_en_gb’ field.

Section title field in second language – in my case it was Russian is mapped to ‘l10n_title_ru_ru’, but it won’t let you save it into db. I you enter it manually into database it appears in read-only mode in sections dialoge.

My diagnostics is here http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?pid=218386#p218386

I installed fresh txp 4.2.0, installed Russian or Norwegian language and installed mlp 0.9.13 following the instruction provided, skipping all upgrade steps as irrelevant. If I am not the only chosen, you may arrive at where I’ve been doing it the way I did.

I wonder if anyone managed to get 0.9.13 working with txp 4.2.0?
I’ve tried several times and I am still unable to edit section titles.

I don’t have those problems anymore (0.9.13 & 4.2) everything works great here with serbian, italian & english (draganstojkov.com), except problem I mention above…

Pogonik, does that mean you had them before? If so, what did you do to solve them?

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

I meant, I’ve had that problems with mlp 0.9.12 (or it was 0.9.11 can’t remember)…with 0.9.13 everything works fine.
Could it be a server problem, or some problem with php version maybe?

That’s what I was thinking. Let’s compare:

Showing the ‘bug’

liniocht’s settings:

PHP version: 5.2.0-8+etch15
MySQL: 5.0.32-Debian_7etch10-log
PHP Server API: apache
Server OS: Linux 2.6.18
Active plugins: zem_contact_lang-mlp-4.0.3.6-ML, l10n-0.9.13-gp, gbp_admin_library-0.4.2

vandamar’s settings:

PHP version: 4.3.11
MySQL: 5.0.67.d7-ourdelta-log
PHP Server API: cgi-fcgi
Server OS: Linux 2.4.21-53.ELsmp
Active plugins: zem_contact_lang-mlp-4.0.3.6-ML, l10n-0.9.12-gp, ebl-image-edit-2.0, hak_tinymce-0.7.4, upm_image-0.6.2, stm_javascript-0.3, gbp_admin_library-0.4.1

(vandamar changed to l10n-0.9.13-gp afterwards.)

Not showing the ‘bug’

My settings:

PHP version: 5.2.11
MySQL: 5.0.86
PHP Server API: apache2handler
Server OS: Linux 2.6.9-89.0.9.ELsmp
Active plugins: zem_contact_reborn-4.0.3.20, zem_contact_lang-mlp-4.0.3.6-ML, wet_slimpattern-0.4.1, mkp_version-4.0, jnm_audio-0.3m, pap_contact_cleaner-0.1, rss_admin_db_manager-4.0.2m, l10n-0.9.13-gp, sed_copyright-1.3, gbp_admin_library-0.4.2, sed_plugin_library-0.3

pogonik’s settings:

PHP version: 5.2.9
MySQL: 5.0.45-log
PHP Server API: apache
Server OS: FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE-p5
Active plugins: zem_contact_lang-mlp-4.0.3.6-ML, wet_for_each_image-0.5, l10n-0.9.13-gp, upm_image-0.6.2, gbp_admin_library-0.4.2, jbx_multiple_image_upload-0.3c

Hmm… nice list, but it doesn’t tell me much ;) Anyone else? Is there any other setting we should look at?

Edit: added pogonik’s settings. I notice that our PHP versions are higher, but don’t know if that’s relevant?

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

I may have come across a problem related to the section titles.

When altering category titles I noticed that the category values in the mlp tables associated with each article didn’t update. I had to re-save each article for the mlp tables to update.

Since the section values appears to be stored the same way, maybe this is somehow related?

That’s exacly what I meant HERE but my “tarzan” english obviously wasn’t enought understandable…

Or maybe I was a little too hasty to read through the last couple of pages here. ;-)

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

I am having a great deal of trouble creating a static home page. A solution suggested here of creating a new section called home_page and setting that to be the only one the displays on the home page doesn’t work, because the new section “home page” now shows on the top menu bar and the content winds up not just on the home page but also at a url that ends with .com/home_page. Can anyone provide a suggestion on how to achieve a static home page? Thanks

You can read about creating static pages over here

For a static home page, you should instruct your home page (default) templete to output a static article and keep all dynamic articles out of the way by simply assigning them to other sections. Think of the home page as a place that would usually show the entire stream of articles unless they are assigned elsewhere. You can also instruct it to output a single given article, if you will.

I am not sure, though if this is an MLP related issue.
