Textpattern is changing image names - fixable?
I’m uploading a ton of photos, and noticed that Textpattern changes the image names as I upload them.
For example, if I upload the following images…
- dw301.jpg
- dw301t.jpg
- sd250.jpg
- sd250t.jpg
I see that the images have been converted to the following…
- 4.jpg
- 4t.jpg
- 5.jpg
- 5t.jpg
It’s not a big deal, but I’m a bit of a neat freak and am wondering if there happens to be a way to have Textpattern NOT change the image names. If not, no worries – just curious.

Hi idesign123
One of the reasons that txp changes names is to prevent duplicates.
You can upload all images via ftp if you prefer to keep the names but you’ll not be able to manage them through the db and will limit your ability to treat them as galleries defined by categories.

- I’m loving Textpattern by the way. At first I was going to just use it for part of a client’s website, but now I want to use it for the whole site. Fun stuff.

I’ve been wondering this myself. I definitely see the reason for it, and now that it’s started this way, it seems pretty difficult to change things up. But well-chosen image names can contribute to SEO, so I’d love it if there were a way to output image names in the html.
