[request] take stm_article_order to the next level
I have asked Stanislav, the creator of stm_article_order, to do this, and he gave me the go ahead to ask in the forum.
I would like to include:
- categories under the sections, or section categories maybe a better way of putting it (if there are any articles in the section/category – if not, then no display)
- the ability to remove sections which are not needed (similar to sed_section_fields).
The first point is more important that the second
So if anyone is interested, can you let me know how much you want to do this… (is that how it works?)
Thanks
Tye

For the current project I’m working on I’ve already modded stm_article_order to do #2, along with a few other little minor bits ‘n’ pieces. #1 isn’t beyond the realms of possibility either. Give me a shout via e-mail with some more details. Depending on your timescales and how client-friendly you want the options to be (for example, right now the list of excluded sections are hard-coded at the top of the plugin), I’ll see what I can do for ya.

Just bumping this thread as Bloke got a little busy with all the txp updates and personal projects.
Anyone interested in taking it up?

Just bumping again… or does anyone know of another solution to this?

Just so it’s clear, is the use of the stm_article_order plug-in essential to your requirement or are you simply seeking to achieve the output you describe in #1? If the output could be achieved with TXP tags, would that meet your requirement?

Well – I’m not sure if you can use txp tags as this plugin works admin side…

My question arose from your query:
does anyone know of another solution to this?
I was asking if the plugin was an essential to achieving the result you want in the front end of your site?

Re: [request] take stm_article_order to the next level
Ah – ok… sorry, well yes it is.
There are different 4-8 categories in each section around 20-30 articles in each category and I’m looking for an easy way to pass this onto a client to control as the site has a featured article which leads through the rest of the articles – so they want to be able to change this to keep up with current trends.
They wanted a visual type thing where they can order the articles in a similar way to stm_article_order after seeing something similar in action.
Sorry for the bumping Gocom – I just think that this plugin is great for client interface and would add benefit to txp – I won’t do it again
